This is the base drawing for one of the new paintings in my St Andrews, Old Course project. It's called "Swilken" and is 48 x 36 inches. The first colour lay-in comes next!

Contemporary Edinburgh artist Davy Macdonald showcases a stunning new collection of abstract, conceptual and fine art oil paintings inspired by the ancient standing stones of Callanish (Calanais), on the Isle of Lewis. Constructed 5000 years ago, before the Great Pyramids of Giza and 2000 years before Stonehenge, Callanish is a ritual site of great power and regeneration. In this place, the feeling of closeness to the moon is intense. The builders had the knowledge, ability and desire to map the lunar standstill that occurs every 18.6 years. A diverse and unique exhibition not to be missed.

The exhibition runs from 21st - 30th August 2021 at The Dundas Street Gallery, Edinburgh.
