Master Studies
This series of paintings is based on studies of painters of the past and present. This has been a learning mechanism used by artists across the centuries. The study of Sargent’s cavaliers is based on his study of a Velasquez which is part of a series of studies he made in the Prado Museum in Madrid. Robert Maguire created many fantastic images which were used on pulp fiction book covers in the 1950’s and Lucian Freud continues to create much sought after work.
