“Pieta” – Work in Progress, Oil on Linen, 16 x 12 inches. This is a warmed raw umber Frotte on a blue/green Imprimatura.

This painting is a head study of Mary from Michaelangelo’s Pieta sculpture in the Vatican in Rome.

“Dawn” – Oil on Canvas, 37 x 37 inches, Work in Progress. This is the 1st painting using Cremnitz White, a warm and cold black and emerald green. Will try to leave some of the glow of the raw sienna imprimatura as I proceed.

This painting is based on the sculpture of Dawn by Michaelangelo for the tomb of Lorenzo de’ Medici, in the Medici Chapel in Florence.

“Tartan Shirt and Elephant Skeleton” – Oil on Linen, 30 x 24 inches, Work in Progress. This is the end of the 2nd painting. Will leave this to dry before continuing.

“Final Request” – Oil on Canvas, 30 x 30 inches, Work in Progress. This is the end of the 2nd painting. Will leave this to dry before next stage. This is the first painting in my Lady Killers Series.

“The Anguish of Leto, Wife of Zeus”, Oil in Canvas, 24 x 20 inches – Work in Progress.  This is part of my Greek Goddess Series using Venetian painting techniques.  The painting is in the final stages of glazing, scumbling and detail work.

This will be the last new painting to be started before my forthcoming exhibition at the Dundas Street Gallery in Edinburgh. I will now concentrate on finishing the plethora of paintings in progress.

“Hera of Argos”, Oil in Linen, 24 x 18 inches – Work in Progress.  This is part of my Goddess Series using Venetian painting techniques.  A solid under painting was done with White, Black and a little Red on an umber toned canvas. The painting has now had its 2nd glaze of local color. Once dry more work is required to strengthen the depth and color.

“Skull and Microscope” – Oil on Linen, 30 x 24 inches, Work in Progress. This is the end of the 2nd painting. Will leave this to dry before next stage.
