Victoria Hall - Frottee

This is the start of the first painting in my new series “Gothic Edinburgh”. It’s oil on canvas, 28 x 22 inches, Work in Progress.

The backdrop is Victoria Hall (now known as The Hub) at the top of Edinburgh’s Royal Mile. The design was a collaboration between Edinburgh architect James Gillespie Graham and the famous Gothic Revivalist Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin, completed in 1845.

The model is Roswell Ivory.

This painting will be part of my next exhibition at the Dundas Street Gallery, Edinburgh which will run from Saturday 21st March to Saturday 28th March 2015.
